Many of our clients loved our superseded Sea Lion Hunter torch with it's 300 metre range and modest head size. The Sea LIon Hunter was superseded by the Seal which now has a 500 metre throw but does have a larger head than most torches, it's head is 82mm. For those who would like about 300 metres of throw the Ranger 56 is the perfect compromise, with an adjustable head which is 56mm in size, compared to say 42mm for our NiteHunter (or many regular LED hunting torches) but with 50% more throw.
Light Output and Beam Pattern
The Ranger 56 LED torch with its large aspheric head and greater focal distance than usual between LED and aspheric lens (magnifying glass) concentrates every one of its lumens into it’s spot to provide a good beam out to 300 metres. This can be adjusted back to flood. There is a high beam, medium and low beam on the hunting torch version with it's dual tailcap (which includes a tapeswitch) and on the Procap version (best for general use) there are four levels and two strobes.
The runtime for this powerful throwing LED torch is 1 hour 30 minutes on High (100%), 2 hours 52 minutes on Medium/High (50%), 5 hours on Medium (20%) and 45 hours on Low (2%).
Red
The Ranger 56 is available in a RED version, for those who want to be less obvious to their game. Red traditionally isn't a high impact light to either animals or humans, so the large head of the Ranger 56 RED LED torch really helps in getting that red light downrange.
Dual Tailcap or Procap?
Should you choose the Procap version or Dual Tailcap version?
The Ranger 56 LED torch is available with your choice of Procap or Dual Tailcap. Most people who want to mount their Ranger 56 on a scope use the Dual Tailcap version, those who want to use it for general use often choose the Procap Tailcap version. The Ranger 56 Pro is also suitable to mount onto a scope as there is a spring in the Pro Cap just like in the construction of the Dual Hunting Tailcap. We would recommend the Ranger 56 Pro model if the torch was to be used primarily for general purposes and only a small percentage of the use to be mounted onto a scope.
The Wolf Eyes Dual Tailcap means you can use it like a regular tailcap or screw on the included tapeswitch for faster control of your hunting torch via the tapeswitch (the switch on the torch still works with the tapeswitch attached). There are four levels of light output available with the Dual Tailcap.
The Wolf Eyes Procap has one easy large button and then allows easy changing of levels by rotating a ring on the base of the torch and offers two strobes and four levels of light output.
It is worth noting the magnets in the Pro Cap are not compatable with the magnetic mount, we suggest installing the standard Dual Hunting Tailcap if using a magnetic mount.
TTT and Construction
Like all of the Wolf Eyes General and Hunting Torches the Ranger 56 torch is built around the brass TTT – Thermal Transfer Tube. The Thermal Transfer Tube has three benefits, it strengthens the total body structure, it enhances electrical conductivity and most importantly drags damaging heat away from LED. If overheated LEDs suffer permanently reduced output. This means your LED torch has reduced output for the rest of it's life, a common complaint from LED torches with lightweight bodies which provide little to no heatsinking. Modern LEDs produce little heat in low output form, but in high output form they then produce high heat outputs. It is worth remembering that LEDs now produce many times the output of a similar size incandescent torch.
The rest of the torch's body is made from aircraft grade aluminium 6061-T6 which is then low temperature (-20o C) Hard Anodized tactical black.
Regulation
The Ranger 56 LED Torch is regulated, meaning the torch doesn’t dim as the battery flattens. Torches usually dim as the battery flattens, sometimes just a little and often a lot. This is true of incandescent torches and LED torches. This is because the battery reduces in voltage as it flattens or discharges. The solution to this is regulation, this increases the amperage as the voltage is reduced, so the optimum power or current is always supplied to the LED ensuring your torch continues at optimum brightness. This also ensures your LED wont partially overheat from a too strong battery, again causing reduced output for the life of the torch.
Adjustable Focus
The Ranger 56 LED flashlight has adjustable focus from spot to flood. This adjustable focus is acheived by screwing the head (rather than push/pull) so the torch is more resistant to recoil on heavy calibres.
Rechargeable Batteries
The Wolf Eyes LRB168P lithium ion battery (18650) supplied with the Ranger 56 LED torch is also used in all our other hunting torches, LED torches and headlamps, giving you interchangeability. This is both an energy dense battery (meaning you only need one and so can keep the 25.4mm – 1” -standard firearm body size) and also protected for your safety. The Dual Tailcap also features a spring within it, combined with the spring at the front of the battery compartment, the two springs contain the lithium ion rechargeable battery which can move but electrical contact is maintained at all times, even with the recoil of heavy calibres.
Cold Weather
All Lithium Ion powered Wolf Eyes LED torches work well in cold weather, the Ranger 56 LED hunting flashlight is no exception, being rated from -20o C to +60o C.
Australian Approved Charger
The Ranger 56 LED torch features USB internal charging, meaning you can recharge it from any USB point, in your car, office, powerbank, etc. The charger with your Wolf Eyes LED Torch is Australian Approved, meaning that you can feel safe using it and all your insurances will apply.
Support
Your Wolf Eyes Torch is fully supported within Australia. We have spares here with solid stocks to support our Police and Military partners, we also have a 1300 911 007 phone number to provide over the phone assistance. After hours there is live answering on this line so you can be looked after during working hours.

Ranger 56 Procap LED Torch
By: Brenton on 3 January 2019Appears to live up to specifications. Provides ample light for each power setting and throws the beam on the highest power setting and most concentrated beam setting as per spec's or very close. One improvement which could be made is not with the product but instead it would be a good feature to be able to purchase a holster TAC or otherwise for carry of the product.

Ranger 56 after first weekend use
By: Dave B on 5 September 2018Very well made, nice USB charge port with slide over dirt cover and charge status led. Has 4 power setting but I only need the brightest...slightly annoying that I can't lock out the other 3 as this means I sometimes have to cycle through them all to get the high power one...there is some in built timing so if you hit 'on' for high beam then momentarily 'off' then go 'on' again it will take you to a lower setting then you have to cycle through back to high...a bit annoying. Beam is good on hi to about 125-150M for good Fox eye-shine and target visibility...longer range is possible you just don't get so much eye-shine back. Ran for about 1hr+ with no sign of battery fatigue - carried a charged spare anyways. Would be nice to have option to buy accessory protective cover for when in field box in back or truck...I made a sleeve out of neoprene pipe insulation that works well. Overall a good product with no 'deal killer' faults.

Ranger 56 first impressions.
By: Lawrence Joncour on 6 August 2018I waited for dark to fall then went out into the back yard on our one acre block and switched on the Ranger 56. It is 50 metres to the back fence and the light was nothing short of amazing. Adjusting to flood lit up the whole back yard and the spotlight was no less surprising with brilliant light. The lowest setting was dim enough to use inside without blinding anyone. What a torch.

Ranger 56 - Good all rounder.
By: Cameron Lynn on 31 July 2018I was sick of over priced Led Lenser torches failing, so thought I’d give Wolfeyes Ranger 56 a try. Great throw when dialed out to a spot, perfect for mounting on the scope. Took it out on my .223 the other night and was pleased to see the torch lived up to its specs. On wide beam it lights up the close area clearly, with no black spots. Fits in the side door pocket of the hilux, ready for use. Great product.

My new Ranger 56

Ranger 56
By: Damien on 23 July 2018I recently purchased the Ranger 56 Dual Tailcap from Wolfeyes Tactical Torches. I found their customer service to be excellent, I contacted them over the phone and was given good advice, which they actioned immediately. My torch was dispatched the same day and I received it the next day. I used the torch for spotlighting pest control. I found the torch to provide effective lighting out to 300 m, the adjustment from spot to beam was very useful and easy to adjust. I used the torch for about 2 - 3 hours (not continuous use) and it worked well; however, I did notice a small reduction in the power of the beam towards the end of the night. The USB charging feature is excellent, the torch is sturdy and functional. I would definitely recommend this torch to anyone.

What a amazing Spotlight
By: Fredy on 21 November 2017Forget these 'Made in China' CREE 8000 plus lumen Spotlights. The Ranger is the real deal. Ultra bright light, cristal clear spot, easy to operate and the best of all it's always charged thanks to the micro usb slot (very handy to keep it in the car).

Security
By: Michael on 18 October 2017I got this one as I'm night patrol security. I have been totally staggered as to it's performance. Other lights on the market don't come close to this. Even the police I deal with are impressed by this light. I love it & I will be ordering lots more in the future.

Excellent Product
By: Gerard on 26 April 2017After looking at similar torches for some time I settled on the Wolf Eyes Ranger. It arrived promptly from the supplier, and after an overnight charge I set out the following nights to look for wildlife. Its light to carry and has an easy beam focus bezel at the front. The three step switch is easy to access on the rear of the torch and toggles easily through the power settings. Its a powerful light and easily covers the 200m range with effective light beyond that. Close up and on wide focus its a terrific general light. Narrow the beam and its a very competent spotlight. Battery life has been good and recharge times are modest. Carrying a second battery is recommended for longer use (over 1.5 hours) where full power is used.
