Beam Type: Reflector – Spot surrounded by flood
The Hawk 2, another torch designed from the outset to be a hunting torch, is a reflector based torch giving a spot surrounded by flood beam out to 150 metres and features the Dual Tailcap so it can be used on and off. Great for pigs on a pump action, rabbits with a .22 or scatter g8n or those who like the wider beam.
Light Output and Beam Pattern
The Hawk 2 provides a very tight spot out to 150 metres which is surrounded by flood, not dissimilar to a conventional spotlight. This surrounding flood makes for fast target acquisition. Great for searching a hillside.
The tailcap is the Wolf Eyes Dual Tailcap, which means you can use it like a regular tailcap or screw on the included tapeswitch for faster control of your light. The Dual Tailcap also features a spring in it, combined with the spring at the front of the body, the two springs contain the battery which can move but electrical contact is maintained at all times, even with heavy calibres.
TTT and Construction
The TTT - Thermal Transfer Tube - is at the centre of the Hawk 2 LED Hunting Torch, then it is surrounded by an 6061-T6 aircraft aluminium body – together these two components are stronger than they would be individually. The Thermal Transfer Tube wicks the damaging heat away from the LED and uses the mass of the body as a heatsink to radiate the heat away – great for a long life. The whole package is low temperature (- 200 C) Hard Anodized tactical black.
The Hawk 2 LED hunting torch is regulated, meaning the torch doesn’t dim as the battery flattens. Most torches dim as the battery flattens, due to the battery voltage dropping. The regulation unit in the Hawk 2 senses that and increases the amperage as the voltage decreases, thereby ensuring consistent current to the LED. Also ensuring your Hawk 2 will provide full power with a ¾ flat battery!
The NiteHunter, like all Wolf Eyes Headlamps and Hunting Torches, relies on the LRB168A lithium ion (18650) battery which can power this torch with one battery, keeping the slim 25.4 mm (1”) firearm standard body so you can utilise most rifle mounts. This battery is protected, meaning there is a computer chip to control discharging, charging and importantly over discharging.
You can see the photo where the Wolf Eyes torch is frozen inside an ice cube for 4 days and still working – I don’t think too many people want to hunt under the same conditions.
Australian Approved Charger
The Hawk 2 charger is Australian Approved for your safety.
The Hawk 2 LED Hunting Torch has a removable LED which is upgradeable when suitable newer versions are released.
The Wolf Eyes torch working in the glass of water says it all, ready for anything you encounter hunting..
