We designed the Wolf Eyes Seal hunting torch from the ground up to be the best possible torch we could produce for the man on the land or those who like to control ferals or th. It starts with the 25.4mm (1”) torch body size which suits almost all mounts, this aluminium alloy body is lined with our brass Thermal Transfer Tube to wick damaging heat away from your high power LED. We then have the huge 83mm aspheric LED head, this can reach out to 500 metres so you can see those foxes & wild dogs or check on the front gate or sheds. If you have a vermin problem, this is the torch head for you. Also there is the smaller 50mm reflector LED torch head, giving a nice spot surrounded by flood out to 150 metres, great for rabbits or pigs in the lignum – or just for using as a general torch. Some get this torch just for  vermin control, others for security, while some use it for both work and play. The nice thing is the Seal can fulfil all those roles.

We have now released a new version of the Seal  torch - the Seal High Intensity LED Hunting torch - which is now the new standard Seal LED  torch and only version available (though there is a choice of tailcaps, Pro or Dual tailcap). This version features a more focussed, factory dedomed LED which is able to project further through the large aspheric head - with the naked eye we could see it light up a white card at 500 metres! The Seal Hi Intensity is for those who want the longest throwing torch, have small acreage or need a professional security torch or a search and rescue torch. Of course the Seal High Intensity will throw more light even when used at 150 metres or 200 metres, so if you are someone whose eyes are a little older or prefer more light, the Seal High Intensity would be for you. Due to the tight and powerful beam the High Intensity is a remarkable long throwing torch and would be our recommendation for those who like long distance night work and want a mounted LED torch. This new version throws considerably further than the older Seal torch.

Light Output and Beam Pattern
Of the two LED heads, the main spotlight head catches your attention first due to its 83mm size and huge aspheric (magnifying) lens. You then notice it is approximately the same 83mm back from the outside of the lens to the LED (similar to a magnifying glass lighting paper by the sun, the lens works best when set back the right distance from the LED. Of course all this size and depth is to maximise the throw from the LED in this torch, beyond what is seen in standard  mounted flashlights or internally powered lights. This LED, lens size and lens depth all combine to produce usable light at up to 500 metres (ANSI now rate the 500 metre light at near double that, though we don't think it is suitable to use  at that distance and find their ranges very, very optimistic). The focussing on this LED torch is adjusted by rotary screwing, which combined with a spring at each end in the battery compartment, means this LED flashlight can withstand heavy calibres. The large size and fine focussing capability of this torch head means it is even possible to focus for a slightly wider and shorter beam, something rarely effectively possible or recommended with aspheric lenses on LED torches. One of the huge advantages of the aspheric head if you use your Seal for spotting animals is that the light fills the viewfinder of your scope but isn't so broad - like a reflector lens which provides spot surrounded by flood like below - to disturb surrounding animals. Very handy.

The smaller 50mm deep set mirror reflector LED head provides a perfect combination of spot and flood light (in comparison to the aspheric head above which is all spot) out to about 150 metres. This makes it a great general use LED torch or for hunting use on feral pests such as pigs or rabbits where distance requirements are usually less than 150 metres and the extra flood light surrounding the main spot is advantageous for fast moving game. The Seal LED torch with the reflector head is a very nice standalone flashlight, we can see many choosing to buy a Seal torch to use as their general flashlight, and then screw the aspheric lens on for that once a year  trip. Others may choose the Seal LED torch because it offers the best of both an aspheric LED lens head and a reflector LED head torch - by actually having both heads! We believe the Seal is our best LED torch and one the best LED torches - we hope you do too!

One requirement the Seal torch is often used for is security on small or large acreage. The long throw of the Seal LED torch makes it perfect for checking on gates, sheds or fences and the very light weight means it can be used by people of all ages, sizes or sexes.

Update: As we often do to all Wolf Eyes torches and headlamps, we update them when technology changes, usually due to LED changes (we change reflectors and aspheric lenses with monotonous regularity on our models for tiny LED changes to ensure optimum performance) but also due to manufacturing technology. This is often done without mentioning it. We have just updated the small reflector  head of the Seal hunting torch and this is now the model found in all the stores in Australia and on our website. This new head gives roughly 10% more throw, really too small to mention - but here we are mentioning it! - mainly for those who multiple Seal torches so they understand why there is a difference. We wont be changing our specifications as it is getting a bit petty to claim every last metre, but if you have two Seal LED torches this explains why the new one throws a little better.

White or Infra Red IR LED?

The Seal is available with either a white LED or IR LED (though not both at the same time). The white LED is the more popular LED and is used for regular night work and projects regular white light. The IR LED is 850nm (940nm is available by special order) and is used by those with night vision equipment. The light being projected by the IR LED is invisible to the naked eye, it needs night vision equipment to be visible. The length of throw is dependent on the capability of your night vision equipment, the more capable it is the further it will be able to see.

We have also released a High Intensity LED, this version has a tighter and therefore stronger beam wich projects further than the regular LED. This LED  is perfect if you want the longest throwing light to mount - even if usually use it at one third that distance at night (Update: This is now our standard light).

TTT and Construction
The Wolf Eyes Seal Torch starts with the TTT – Thermal Transfer Tube made of brass, wrapped around this is the 6061-T6 aircraft aluminium torch body in 25.4mm (1”) standard size. There are three reasons for the brass liner, one is that it provides better strength for your torch than either material individually, two it provides better electrical conductivity and three, most importantly, it draws heat away from the high output LED and uses the full metal torch body as a heatsink to radiate the damaging heat away from your LED and lithium ion battery.. If LEDs are overheated they suffer permanently reduced output – bad news for LED torches. We build our torches with pride to last.

This standard 25.4mm torch body means you can mount above the scope, to the side, even under the barrel with our magnetic mount. It also opens your options up to exotic mounts.

The Seal weighs 426 grams with battery or 378 grams without, to give an idea that is roughly the weight of a can of Coca Cola (12 grams heavier) - somewhat less than it looks. There is a fair amount of air in the head and we have worked hard since the initial release to lose over 100 grams from the total weight.

Finally the whole torch body is low temperature (-20o C) Hard Anodized in tactical black for a non reflective durable finish.

Dual Tailcap
The torches tailcap is the Wolf Eyes Dual Tailcap, which means you can use it like a regular tailcap or screw on the included tapeswitch for faster control of your flashlight. With a conventional torch with a single spring, on a heavy calibres the battery (or batteries) can move around violently from the recoil and can cause damage to components of the torch. On the Wolf Eyes Seal torch we utilise dual springs, one on each end of the battery compartment to isolate the battery's movement, while always maintaining full electrical conductivity, power to the LED and output. Yet another way we enhance the protection and reliability of your torch.

Procap

The Seal Is also available with a Pro Cap instead of the Dual Hunting Tailcap. The Seal Pro model has the same performance with a Pro Cap, the advantage of the Seal with the Pro Cap is that you can pre select the level of output you require before or after turning the Seal on instead of soft clicking through the modes with the Dual Tailcap.

The Seal Pro version is suitable to be mounted as it has a spring in the Pro Tailcap just like the Dual Tailcap does.

We would recommend the Seal Pro model if the torch was to be used primarily for general purposes and only a small percentage of the use to be mounted.

While unlikely that anyone will use the Seal Pro as a torch with the Magnetic Mount  it is worth noting the magnets in the Procap are not compatable with the magnetic mount, we suggest installing the standard  dual tailcap if using that mount.

Regulation
Almost all Wolf Eyes Headlamps and Torches are regulated, and the flagship of our LED hunting torches is no exception. As batteries go flat they lose voltage, which reduces light output, sometimes imperceptibly (especially at the start) but often quite noticeably. Not ideal in a spotlight! The Seal LED  Torch has a regulation unit, which means as the voltage is reduced the amperage is increased meaning the optimum current is still being supplied to the LED – and you still have light to see your quarry, even with ¾ flat battery!

Rechargeable Batteries
The Seal uses the same LRB168P (18650) lithium ion protected batteries as the rest of the Wolf Eyes LED torch and headlamp range, meaning you can share the batteries between your torches and headlamps. Due to the lithium ion batteries good output only one is required, meaning we can keep the 25.4 mm (1”) torch body size and modest length. These are protected batteries, meaning there is a computer protection chip built into the battery, which controls charging, discharging and most importantly over discharging. Being rechargeable means low running costs for you. Two disposable CR123A batteries will also power your Seal Hunting Torch.

LED

We use a new Hi Intensity LED which is designed as an LED to throw. We have experimented with de-domed LEDs which would get us probably 5% further but after fairly exhaustive testing decided that these did not provide the reliability that Wolf Eyes was known for. The new Hi Intensity LED

Cold Weather
The photo showing the Wolf Eyes Seal Torch inside an ice cube shows how well the Seal torch handles cold conditions – we doubt too many like to go outside frozen inside an ice cube, though sometimes it feels like it!

Australian Approved Charger
The provided Seal Hunting Flashlight Charger is Australian Approved which means it is safe and legal for you to use but also means all your farm, building, home, etc insurances apply.

Support
Wolf Eyes Torches have numerous Police & Military (including all of SAPOL) contracts which mean that both contractually and morally we are obliged to keep a large range of flashlight and headlamp spares available in Australia. We also have a 1300 911 007 for questions and queries so help is a phone call away. The Wolf Eyes Tactical Torches 1300 911 007 number has a 24 hour live answering service so you can log calls after hours.

Mount
The Seal is supplied without a mount as not all customers require mounting, such as those using the Seal LED torch for security or search and rescue. The mount which are suitable are available in our mount section.

Distance

Recently we have been asked how we come up with our distance guides for our LED torches. This has also been asked due to some other LED torches being rated at 1km, 10km (seriously!), etc.

We use an A3+ (329 x 483mm) white board which we then place in a dark field and see how far away we can see this visibly light up the board with the naked eye. This is representative of what we would call ideal conditions in terms of use, obviously a well camouflaged animal will be harder to see. Often a well camouflaged animal can be hard to see at 20 metres! Of course the other side of this is that a 50 or 56mm objective scope will actually enhance the amount of light the user sees (unless you are using it on a higher magnification than say 8 to 10X where you will then shrink the exit pupil). So we would reasonably expect these to be accurate for an average user, though some will have better or worse eyes, more experienced outdoors people will have a better recognition of outlines and shapes, etc. For our eyes the large aspheric Seal head when viewed through a 56mm scope seems like daylight at 200 metres. The aspheric (magnifying glass) head has greater throw as it concentrates all the light into one beam, the reflector head gives a spot surrounded by flood beam.

We use this system with a white board as it allows it us to compare between our models accurately. Some have suggested we should test on live animals, the reality is it takes a few hours to test, measure with a tape (not rangefinder) and try different torches. We don't have any tame foxes we can leave there for 3 hours! Knowing our method allows you to assess what range you think you can get out of it, some with good scopes, young eyes and only a dim id requirement may get more, those older (you eyes pupil loses the ability to expand and let more light in as you age, especially over 40 years of age - sorry), using scopes on high magnification or who prefer a brighter sight picture will get less.

To be fair I think when others rate their torches they are not saying how much usable light at that distance - they may be quoting 1 candlepower where most would not consider that enough to shoot by, especially at long distance. I am guessing the companies quoting 10km are quoting how far away you can see the light when looking back at the torch – though even that is a big ask on flat ground, the horizon is only 4.7km away! If you are 30 metres in the air that rises to near 20km so lets give the 10km claims that benefit as well.

One fair way to evaluate claims is to think about spotlights on a 4WD or truck. Most of us have these spotlights or have been in a vehicle with spotlights ranging from 240 to 300 mm in diameter, with LED, halogen or HID filaments and with the vehicle battery & alternator as a power source. Did these lights shine 10kms? Or even 1km? Maybe 1/2km? This probably gives you an idea of the chance of a torch with a smaller light source, smaller reflector and much smaller power source achieving these figures. Audi has recently released optional Laser high beams on their $400K R8 sports car. This system is so powerful that as well as only coming on above 60kmh there is a camera system to automatically dim, turn away or turn off these lasers when other vehicles are detected. With 4 lasers in each module, the claims are only for 600 metres - less than some LED torches claim :)    - details here Audi Laser Lights.

SAR

Search and Rescue. Recently a number of departments have purchased this torch as a search and rescue light. This torch, while predominantly designed for firearm use, is eminently suited for this use due to it's long throw from a very lightweight package. We would recommend a second battery when being used for search and rescue functions as SAR demands longer runtimes than usual of LED torches and lights. One unit in particular purchased the Wolf Eyes Seal due to it's light weight which enabled it be used when abseiling down cliff sides.

Not everyone mounts their Seal torch, but for those who do we recommend the mounts in our mount section.

Extremely happy with this product, tried the torch and quick release mount out on my .22mag, bagged some good wallaby, something very hard to do on your own normally, loved the quick release to be able to use the torch on its own, and the separate lens for shorter range and also the narrow to wide view angle adjustment was great.. love the cap to...

Good Gear

By: on 20 October 2017
This is our second Seal, the first bought about about a year ago. A bit over 2 years ago bought myself and two sons each another of a decent brand of torch. After a year and just out of warranty the first died. My sons talked me into the Wolf Eyes even though it was a little more, similar strength but much better made. Our second torch of the other brand just died, the reason for this last purchase. Very happy with the Seals, well made, good to have focussing and great service. The new mount is really good. My other son cant wait for his M3 to die

Seal Works

By: on 16 September 2017
After some minor difficulties brought about by Wolf Eyes staff being deployed at the Brisbane Shot Show my Seal hunting torch arrived at my door. I took the Seal hunting the night it arrived and it really is something. The spot of light it produces when fully magnified is quite small using the naked eye at 250 metres but easily fills the sight picture in my scope. The target species was lit better than our hand held 12 Volt HID lights could manage and we had successful shots at that distance. This is the first time I have experienced this much light at that distance and I am very happy with the result. The staff at Wolf Eyes could not be more helpful and professional. We will be glad to recommend this torch to any hunter.

IT'S A BLOODY MIRACLE!!

By: on 27 July 2017
Hi my name is Daniel, I served my country as a soldier for 7 of the best years of my life! Due to an unfortunate accident that left permanent damage in my right leg, I now live in a rooming house in ST KILDA, VIC. The 'dog-Park' next-door is lovely by day, but as soon as the Sun sets, every dark area of real-estate- away from the path lights, was infested with individuals who believe in antisocial behaviour out in the open. It was when I found an Aussie Co. called Wolf Eyes, and bought their Seal Hi Intensity Torch- designed esp. for hunting vermin, that I knew I had struck 'gold!' In less than 48 hrs! of using the Torch and now 1 month later, I can seriously and accurately report, that now when I go out at night for a stroll and a dart, under the stars, and holding my favourite bit of kit ( Wolf Eyes SEAL Torch) there isn't any anti social behaviour in sight! The staff are a joy to talk too,the packaging it arrived in truly SHOCKED me!!! Professional ,customised ,foam cut outs! holding each part securely, the Seal Hi-Intensity Torch is just so bloody incredible! From design features to actual performance, on small spot focus setting, the power behind it's white brilliance and distance, just made me start laughing both from shock and joy! I am very satisfied and very proud to have an Aussie Company that provide products, service and advice that Internationally put them in a league of their own. I have never stood behind a product with such eagerness and honesty before. Publicly I would love to thank Wolf Eyes and the lovely staff, for giving me a product that did EXACTLY what it said it would! and had easily paid for itself by day 2! I will definitely shop with Wolf Eyes again

This is such a great touch. I love being able to stand in my yard on the farm at night and see hundreds of metres out into the night. This is a really high quality unit. Incredibly bright white light. Very happy.

The seal high intensity torch

By: on 16 June 2017
I am gob smacked by this torch. Every thing that is stated about it and it's uses is spot on. I own a couple of wolf eye torches, but this one is now my go to torch. The focus on the large head from flood down to that intense spot is absobloodylutly fantastic. Through a scope you can see every item in minute detail. The smaller head is the torch for around the outside of the house or if a blackout happens, this torch lights up the inside of my house beautifully. Thank you wolf Eyes.

Seal 500 metre

By: on 13 March 2017
My second Seal, gave my first to a mate visiting from the Territory who had done me a lot of favours. He saw it again and was still nicely surprised by the performance, so I gave it to him. Nice increase in distance with the 500 metre Seal, by far this is the best distance torch I or my hunting buddies have seen, light, throws as far as you can ever shoot at night, easy to mount on my rifle. Just perfect, thank you for making the perfect product.

Seal IR torch

By: on 8 November 2016
This is a very capable light source, I have already used it hunting at ranges out to 400 metres in pitch darkness with amazing results. IR Illumination is class leading. Paired with my night vision scope it has now changed the way I hunt for ever.

Amazing light

By: on 8 August 2016
I purchased this light to mount on my scope for fox and deer control, and it has not disappointed. At full pinpoint it is a very narrow bream which can make tracking a moving fox difficult but if you broaden the beam a little it is still bright enough at 200 metres plus to be effective. A very effective spot out to 200 metres to take head shots. And the little battery has been adequate when combined with a head lamp for an hours walking. LOVE IT.

Thanks

By: on 30 June 2016
I purchased a WOLFEYES SEAL pack, picatinny mount & keyring torch pack 2 weeks ago. Despite a minor delivery hiccup (Terri was awesome to deal with - thankyou) I received the goods. Predominantly for fox hunting, I was eager to try out the SEAL with the aspheric head. 1st night out - After sighting fox eyes @ approx. 200yds, using roof mount spotlight, I switched over to the SEAL (scope mounted). I could now see the fox - not just eyes! Looking through my optics, this was better than daylight - full image, no heat haze. Too easy. My wife wants one now... Strongly recommend. Thanks WOLFEYES.

Best Hunting Torch/Spotlight You Will Ever Use!!

By: on 14 May 2016
I recently purchased the Seal Hunting Torch a little over two weeks ago for a week long hunting trip. I also purchased the picatinny rail mount and larger capacity battery. When I received the torch i instantly noticed the unreal build quality but this was expected as I own other Wolf Eyes products for work. In addition this torch is super super light so don't be fooled by the larger head and expect it to be top heavy or bulky, you can see a lot of R&D has gone into balancing this torch. The picatinny mount is easily installed and the torch fit extremely well on my Tikka T3 Lite and did not add much noticeable weight or throw the balance out of the rifle which is a huge plus. Now out on the farm. My god this thing is unreal, the brightness and throw of this torch is second to none. The spot is tight and clear with zero flood and when mounted on the scope it perfectly lines up with your field of view. The fast focus head is also a treat so you can fine tune the spot size to your field of view or spotting application. When you look through the scope at the target it is honestly clear as day (no understatement). My mate zeroed in on some game on the other end of the paddock in the dead of the night at we ranged it at just over 300 meters. I was spotting for him and I asked if he could see the target, he replied "Mate, it's clear as day." Another huge plus is that it's easily taken off the gun mount with no fuss. Depending what we were doing I would sometimes just use it as a hand held spot if I wasn't lugging my rifle around the farm and it easily out shined some of the HID plug in spotties that we had in the ute. The two fellas I went out with all said by the end of the trip that they wanted this torch and I don't blame them. The larger capacity battery lasted all night for me, mind you I was only using it when I was scanning the paddock or was on target, so it was intermittently in use all night. I seriously can't praise this bit of kit enough. If you are considering this torch GET IT. Yeah it's a few dollars but that all went flying out when I first turned it on. This torch was daylight at 300 meters and easily has more in it.

Torch = 26 rabits 8 foxes

By: on 11 February 2016
I bought the the torch about two weeks ago with the wolf eyes scope mounts. I had been previously using a large and heavy led lenser torch for hunting but the distance and intensity of the beam was very poor and had to have a second person to hold the light. I paid $300 in total for the torch and mount and took it straight out spotlighting that night. I first used my led lenser for 30 mins but then mounted the seal. The difference was amazing, easily as good as a 9 inch lightforce halogen at 200 metres. the lightness of the torch was fantastic because after a short while I forgot it was there. I use the small head for rabbits and other close range game and use the large head for all other shooting. I shot 26 rabbits in 90 minutes on the first battery and shot 8 foxes out to 200 metres for the following 3 hours. if you havent got a car to mount a powa beam spotlight I would advise everyone to buy one of these lights, but you do need a head lamp for walking around

Impressive bit of kit!

By: on 10 January 2016
The price tag on this expensive setup was difficult for me to swallow at the start. I have owned quite a few hunting torches, all of which were never more than $170. But after hearing some feedback from a pro pest controller, I lashed out and bought myself the 1210 lumen Seal. I opted to swap the included mounts (as I already had mounts) for an extra battery and upgraded both batteries to the 3400mah at no extra charge. When I took it out for the first time I was WAY more than impressed!! The 400m claim is WELL UNDERSTATED and ate my previous torches for breakfast. A friend of mine owns a Very well known brand that boasts a 1000m range ;-). Yes his does appear brighter until you look through your scope! We mounted both torches on the same rifle and then looked at the target through the scope at 600m. This is where the Seal comes out ahead! The Seal can be adjusted to a MUCH tighter spot, concentrating the entire intense beam to within your scopes field of view even at 6x magnification with NO wash. My 2 upgraded batteries give me a run time of over 2 hours (Haven't actually run them for longer than 2 hours yet) which I'm yet to see another torch accomplish. The included second head is great for general use and makes for a very practical and bright camping torch. Build quality is sensational! The left hand thread on the bezzle locking nut took a couple goes to get used to and I'd prefer the cap on the remote input to be a screw on aluminium type instead of the push on rubber. All in all, this kit is well worth the money and I HIGHLY recommend it. You won't be disappointed! 5 Stars.
